Lake Moraine in Banff, Alberta, Canada

Experiencing Lake Moraine in Banff was truly a highlight of my photography journey. Known as one of the most sought-after destinations for photographers, capturing its glorious sunrise was an absolute must. Since driving to this location is not an option, I hired a private transport service to take us there as early as 4 am (#radventurescanada). Despite flight delays leaving me with only 3 hours of sleep, I woke up at 2:30 am to embark on this unforgettable excursion.

The sunrise at Lake Moraine was nothing short of magical. The glacier-fed lakes of Banff and Jasper National Parks boast emerald green or turquoise blue waters, and Moraine Lake stands out with its distinct azure blue color, surrounded by breathtaking scenic glaciers. As you can see in the first set of photos, the mountains before sunrise transition to golden peaks at sunrise, a fleeting moment that I was thrilled to capture.

Mornings in the mountains were quite chilly, requiring preparation for both cold and warm conditions as temperatures warmed up to the 80s by mid-afternoon. With sunset not until around 10 pm in the summer, I had long days to explore the stunning landscapes. The mountain trails, though rocky and slippery, offered incredible photo opportunities. Despite taking a tumble and ripping my leggings on the first day, the experience was well worth it.

Exploring and photographing Lake Moraine in Banff has been an extraordinary adventure, showcasing the natural beauty that travel and tourism in this region have to offer. For fellow photographers and travel enthusiasts, this destination is a true gem that should not be missed.
